Knowing His Glory!

I have been thinking about Liberia lately. I will be traveling with a team from my church there in November. I have been thinking about what Issac who was at our meeting on Sunday said about Liberia. He stated that at one time the people were a God-fearing people and that now after years of war the people need to see the glory of the Lord once again. As I was thinking about the glory of the Lord I was drawn to the following scriptures.

Isaiah 6:2-5

"Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory! And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: "Woe is me! I am lost; for I am a woman of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of host!"

I then began to think if one is to teach on the need to see the glory of the Lord one must be experiencing this glory.

Father I am a woman of unclean lips and I am lost without you.
May I feel your glory,
May I experience your glory,
May I know your glory,
May my delight be in the fear of the Lord and knowing the glory of the Lord.

Monday Gratitude Pages August 30, 2010

Why is it that sometimes when I make a decision to find joy and gratitude in things that the enemy wants to confuse me. I don't know why, but to be honest the last week I have struggled to find my joy ... I have taken the time to tell the Lord about my struggle and for this today I am grateful ...

105. Grateful to know that He always hears my voice!

Fun Friday

I participate in a community of bloggers at Holy Experience each Monday and for that reason I thought I would try a little something new to see if I can drum up more readers and writers to learn from .... so ....

We used to have Friday night pizza and game night with our immediate family. Now as the children have all moved out of our home we have moved Friday night pizza to our daughter and son-in-law's house. Tonight, Friday night once again we will enjoy pizza with family and friends ... not sure at this point who will be there tonight but my plan is to bring the pizza (as the golfer is out-of-town, you guessed it ... golfing) and a new game called Mexican Train.

Happy Friday!

Now new to Friday ... we walk with Family and Friends and have fun, feel free to post ideas for Fun Friday by using the link below and blog hopping along with me ....

Past Prayers

Ashley, January, 2010 yet my prayrs for her were 3 years ago to the day.

August 25, 2007 (3 years later)

Oh Father how I worship You for You are my Father. Oh how I thank you that You are Ashley's Father too. I thank You that You are ever where MN and MO. Encourage Ashley today and may the woman in her platoon have integrity. Oh Father be Ashley's comforter, Kelley and Josh's provider, Adam's healer, Carrie and Jacob's encourager and Lisa's peace giver.

This fall as I find myself in yet a different season of life I have been drawn to reading and writing more. Yesterday as I sat in my living room on my comfy couch catching a few moments to read I picked up The Contemporary Christian by John Stott.

I found in his chapter on guidance, vocation and ministry some things we are called to ...

Fellowship with Jesus
Freedom
Peace
Holiness
Witness
Suffering
and Glory!

Dedicating Day 12 to Lisa, Kelley, and Sid

We started out from Eleanor's on Friday and stayed the night in Utah. We then traveled all the way to Wy today where we are hunkered down at a Best Western. The sign outside advertised the golf channel, a big screen TV, and 7 layers to the bed. It is clear here just what is important in life. Well once we got to our room we saw a TV the size of the TV we had for some 20+ years (small) with no golf channel but there were 7 layers on the bed if you can count the little piece of material draped across the foot of the bed as one layer.

You can imagine the disappointment Terry experienced. I am happy to say though that they did give me numbers and letters for a WIFI password that worked! Ha! I guess there's no place like home where you get unlimited access and a big screen TV.

Anyways this post is for Lisa ... The picture of "Mary Mary" as Mary pours the water into the pond at the St. George Museum.

The guitar sculpture also found at the St. George Museum (picture taken with you in mind, Kelley).

And the Train that was traveling along the mountainside for Sid.

3 days and counting 'til we arrive on the home front!

Leaving Eleanor's on Day 10

Friday August 20, 2010

Wow it is hard to believe that it is already day 10 of our road trip. We have had a wonderful time with Eleanor, and Nancy & Charlie. I can't tell you how many times I called Eleanor, "mom" and how many times Eleanor called Terry "Art". We had a lot of time to talk "old times", enjoy homemade food, and appreciate good fellowship with one another. Terry found himself busy fixing things for Eleanor and I had a good time talking with Eleanor as we washed dishes by hand. Once again it has been so good to fellowship with family in an unhurried, beautiful, and very precious way!

patched into Eleanor's neighbor's wireless to recap day 7 and 8

One thing for sure I can say about a good vacation is that it seems like we have been gone forever rather than just 8 days thus far .....

Interesting things to note that on Day 7 we left Hat Creek at 9 am and for $9.50 we were able to pump 2.9 gallons. Our half way point on Monday was Willows Calf. (now having traveled 2248 miles)

We found a Starbucks right next to a Subway so we took out our dollars from Carrie (we had decided these dollars would be used for treats) and I proceeded into the Starbucks and got a hot chai and then went to subway to get Terry a cold coke! Today we found ourselves traveling along the coast and stopped briefly for me to put my feet in the ocean. At 2:50 pm we traveled over the Golden Gate bridge and when we got to the other side it cost us $6.00. At 4:30 we arrived at the Ramada Limited (once again "Limited" must mean no access to Internet even though they say wifi available). We walked across the street to the Santa Cruz Dinner for dinner. It reminded us a bit of the soda fountain in Terry's dad's drugstore. We sat at the counter and watched the server make malts.

Tuesday, August 17 Day 8

We had a contenetial breakfast in the motel lobby and we were off and driving at 9:31 am. This was the latest we had left any of our overnight stays. The temps were a cool (high 50's) and there was a cool ocean breeze along with a bit of fog.

As we were driving down the 101 in Ca towards Aunt Eleanor's home in Atascadero I was reading Neenah Ellis' book to Terry. We were at the chapter entitled Margaret Rawson, "We used to go out into the park in back and eat lunch." This women had lived to be 100 and was an author. Fascinating story!

I paused and said aloud ... "If I can be a teacher with a college degree at 57, I can be an author at 75." Of course, I believe I have been a teacher since I have been a mother. And since I am already a writer, hence this blog and journals dated back to 1980, I can just say i will be a "published" writer by the age of 75. Sometimes it's good to speak your dreams aloud, right Lisa?

Terry than is thinking aloud and is remembering his mom's birthday (100 years) 4 years ago last March was the last time he saw Eleanor in Calf and for me it was 9 year ago when Terry and I were working for Joni and Friends. We both of course remember our visit two summers ago when Eleanor and Nancy came to MN to visit.

A lot has happened in years past. Lots of good memories that both Terry and I are thankful for having the ability to share and remember as we drive and talk with one another.
